Announcing Sweetwater Fly Shop’s 3rd Annual Short Fly Fishing Video Contest! I guess we can still call it that, even though we’re a little late this year.
We’re looking for the best short (5 minutes maximum) amateur fly fishing videos in all the land. Any genre is eligible, as long as it relates to fly fishing – fish porn, scenic, comic (maybe we’ll discover the next Hank Patterson), you name it…. Telling a good story will be weighted more heavily than production slickness.
What can you win? Well, we haven’t decided on the grand prize just yet, but you can be sure it will be something good. In the past two years, we’ve given away a rod one year and a reel the other, so it’ll be something of that ilk. We’ll be announcing the grand prize soon. Stay tuned. (Note: Since we wrote this post, we’ve decided on the Grand Prize…and it’s a brand new fly rod!) And chances are we can come up with some Sweetwater Fly Shop swag for all entrants this year.
All entries will be posted to The Fly Zone blog for the world to see. We’re also planning to hold another public video viewing party in our home town of Livingston, Montana. Details to come.
Deadline for entries is midnight on February 29th (yes, it’s a leap year). Want to enter your video? Shoot us an email and we’ll get back to you with instructions.
No professional videographers, please.
We’ll be posting some of the entries from previous years to this blog in the upcoming weeks. So check back if you want a little inspiration. But don’t be limited by what we’ve received in the past. Use your imagination and present us with something fun to watch.
So start editing your GoPro “footage” and put together a short fly fishing video for our contest! And if you’re not a video hound yourself, but know someone who is, please share this announcement with them.
Be warned, however, master cinematographer Spumoni says he’s putting together a new masterpiece for the contest!
