Our 2017 Fly Fishing Video Contest was a rousing success! On Tuesday evening, we held the public viewing party at Katabatic Brewing (yummy beers!) here in Livingston. The event was co-hosted by the local Joe Brooks chapter of Trout Unlimited and served as a fundraiser for the chapter. Thanks to the Joe Brooks chapter and Katabatic Brewing for their help and support, and to all who attended. A good crowd watched all 20 video entries. After the videos were shown, ballots were handed out and those in attendance voted on their favorite videos.
The vote was close and many of the videos received votes. In the end, however, only one video could take home the grand prize, a new Scott G2 fly rod. Drum roll, please….
The winner of the 2017 Sweetwater Fly Shop Fly Fishing Video Contest is Ken Tanaka! The voters loved his fast-paced, enthusiastic depiction of his fishing trip through the western states.
Watch all of the video entries below. Ken’s winning video is #12 and begins around 29 minutes in. But go ahead and set about an hour aside sometime soon and watch all 20 of the videos. And not just because there are some other gems in the mix. As you’ll see below, we’ve decided that we’re having too much fun with this year’s contest to end it already. We’re going to crown a second winning video, this time based on your online votes!:
New for 2017! The Sweetwater Fly Shop Fly Fishing Video Contest “People’s Choice” Award!
Which of the videos is your favorite? Leave a comment to this blog post or on our Facebook page with the name and/or number of the one video that you liked the most (with the exception of Ken Tanaka’s video, which has after all already won the viewing party grand prize). On Saturday, April 1, 5:00 Mountain Time, we’ll tally up the online votes and declare a second contest winner, the champion of our “People’s Choice” award. The videographer with the most comments/votes will win a new Sage Large Waist Pack ($250 value). It’s big enough to hold all of your fishing stuff, it’s waterproof, and it’s a stylish blue color! Help your favorite filmmaker win a great prize! Cast your vote now.
