…By the few who are brave enough to give it a shot. As they were yesterday. Sweetwater guide Beau Peavey had a good day with his clients yesterday (nymphs and streamers), and I caught a couple of decent rainbows out behind the shop in the short time that I fished in the late afternoon/early evening. The water clarity looks even better this morning. There was a bump on the gauge up at Corwin Springs overnight, but to me at least it didn’t look big enough to severely impact the clarity. We’ll see if I’m right about that. I did see just a few Mother’s Day Caddis coming off last night, and there could be a somewhat bigger emergence later today as the water temperatures rise. But even if there aren’t enough bugs hatching to get the fish interested in surface feeding, a size 14 caddis pupa pattern wouldn’t be a terrible idea as a dropper nymph. I’m still thinking that the ‘Stone will be fishable tomorrow, and possibly Saturday (50/50, in my estimation). But then we’re toast for a long while from Sunday on. So get out there and catch some fish. You might be close to alone out there and be able to lord it over your more timid friends. That’s always fun!
