It seems like we’re in a constant battle to protect the beauty and environmental quality of the Paradise Valley of the Yellowstone River. We’ve previously reported on proposed gold mining in Emigrant Gulch and near Jardine. Now there’s a proposal to develop a gravel mine and asphalt plant right next to Highway 89, just south of Emigrant. The mine will certainly impact the “viewshed” of this beautiful area, and could potentially affect air and water quality as well. Read more about the proposal here.
A public organizational meeting to protest the proposed mine will be held in Emigrant Hall on July 19th at 6:45 p.m..
